The SCVYO Summer Music Program promises to be two weeks filled with fun adventures for young musicians.  Orchestral and ensemble opportunities are offered for players from at least 1 year of experience to advanced string and wind players.

Two summer programs are offered:
Weekend at Camp Wrightwood July 6-8: This is for  SCV Youth Orchestra and Symphony.  All SCVYO and Symphony members are encouraged to attend this.

July 9-20: If you’re relatively new to playing with a full ensemble, your best place to start may be with the Prelude Strings, beginning on July 9.

Both summer programs will be held (or continue) from July 9 to 20, culminating in a fantastic concert on July 21. The music theme focuses on Broadway hits and scores from popular movies.

Prelude Strings: July 9 – 20 Program at College of the Canyons campus; $150

SCVYO & Symphony: July 6 – 20 (includes weekend at Camp Wrightwood + transport, activities, meals, and music training) $350. ($150 deposit at signup; $200 balance due June 2.)

If a student is unable to attend Wrightwood, the cost for two weeks at COC is $250.00

If you have been playing your instrument for at least two years, or you’re already in the SCVYO or Symphony of the Canyons, sign up to join us for this first-ever weekend music program at Camp Wrightwood followed by two weeks of afternoon instruction on the campus of College of the Canyons.

SCVYO & Symphony Music Camp in Wrightwood  July 6-8
- Leave for Camp Wrightwood Friday, July 6 in morning by bus.
- Stay at camp Friday night, all day Saturday, and return home Sunday, July 8

Travel to/from Camp Wrightwood
Small buses or vans provided courtesy of the SCVYO Foundation will be used for transport to Wrightwood.

To sign up for a space in the SCVYO/Symphony Summer Camp, please contact Sue Stanger, Executive Director at sue@suestanger.com. Space is limited to the first 70 students, and a non-refundable deposit of $150 is required to hold your spot. Present members of SCVYO need not audition.  All others need to make an appointment for an audition which will be held on Saturdays, May 19 and June 2. If you are new to the Prelude Strings, Orchestra, or Symphony of the Canyons, you’ll need to schedule an audition. The auditions will be held May 19 and June 2 at College of the Canyons (Pico Canyon Hall). Please contact sue@suestanger.com to arrange for your audition date/time and to register for our summer program.

Auditions for Prelude Strings and SCV Youth Orchestra, will take place on Saturday, August 25, 2012 in COC Pico Canyon Hall, 2nd Floor.  Audition information can be found by clicking the ‘Auditions’ menu on the Home Page.

Symphony of the Canyons will hold auditions at the first class meeting on Thursday, August 30, 2012 in Pico Canyon Hall from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.
