Auditions
Would you like the join one of the SCVYO ensembles?
If you would like to enroll in one of the SCVYO Foundation orchestral ensembles, you need to audition. Please complete and submit the audition application available on this website. Auditions are held before the start of each College of the Canyons’ semester. Each audition is held in the rehearsal rooms, in the Pico Canyon building, at College of the Canyons before members of the orchestra teaching staff. Staff will make an evaluation and then a placement decision. See the below link for the required skill levels for each ensemble.
Would you like to move up to a more advanced ensemble?
If you would like to move up, you need to audition. Evaluation and placement decisions are made solely by the orchestra staff. See the below link for the typical skill levels for each ensemble
Are you re-enrolling and are staying in the same ensemble?
Symphony of The Canyons members must re-audition at the beginning of each Fall semester to retain their position in the Symphony.
If you’re re-enrolling and are planning to stay in Prelude Strings or the SCV Youth Orchestra, no audition is required.
ALL CURRENT AND PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS MUST REGISTER AND PAY FEES IN PERSON ON THE DATES INDICATED IN THE CALENDAR MENU.
